1) Components of AMG’s 53 engine technology
The CLS53 engine, a 3.0-liter straight-line 6-cylinder engine with turbo engine controls the exhaust plus auxiliary compressor.
The important new element is EQ Boost, Merc Merc’s name for an integrated boot generator (ISG), which combines the starter motor and transmitter in a powerful electric motor, located between the engine and the transmission.

Already in the S-Class and soon with other Mercs, the CLS53 has a 48-volt power supply as well as a regular 12-volt system. It is used for strengthening, energy recovery, start and control functions in electric mode.
