Since the beginning of 2019, Honda has been continuously recalled because of serious air bag faults, engine faults and explosion risks.
Over the past days, many customers in Vietnam reflect the Honda CR-V model having a brake failure when activating cruise control control system. This confuses users, especially those who own this model. Honda Vietnam still has no response regarding the case.
This is not the first time Honda has encountered serious errors in 2019. Previously, Japanese automaker had recalled a large number of cars in different markets around the world.
Petrol pump error
In February 2019, Honda announced a recall of 543,000 vehicles in the US market and a few markets imported cars from the US because of a pumping error. Specifically, the vehicles in the recalled area included 106,683 Ridgeline pickup models for 2017-2019, 437,032 Honda Accord (2015-2017), Acura TLX (2015-2019) and SUV Acura MDX (2016-2018).
The cause of the recall is because the gasoline pipeline into the gas pump can crack when exposed to some acids, even specialized car wash soap. This can cause gasoline to leak at high pressure, leading to a risk of explosion. Faulty vehicles will be replaced with petrol pumps and this part cover will be repaired.
In addition, models using 3.5L V6 engines, including the MDX Acura series, Acura TLX, and Honda Accord were recalled because of the problem of the internal components of the petrol pump assembly, causing the sodium elements to be in poor quality gasoline. easy to grip.
This phenomenon causes the resistance of the device to increase, resulting in reduced pump efficiency. At that time, the car will experience weak operation or die while moving. To fix the problem, Honda dealers in the US have updated the software to control the fuel injection controller or replace the new petrol pump cluster.
Self-inflating airbag error
Honda says the metal stains inside the car’s steering wheel may be damaged, leading to short circuits and overheating of parts, causing the air bag to self-extract. The company has also recorded 6 cases of airbags suddenly sprung out even without collisions.
In order to overcome this problem, the cars that are faulty will be replaced with wires inside the steering wheel and SRS system cable. Honda also said it was a separate error, unrelated to previous summons to replace Takata airbags.
Turbocharged motor error
Not long after, on May 29, the Japanese carmaker announced a recall of 1 million Honda Civic and Honda CR-V cars in the US because of a turbocharged engine. Affected vehicles, Honda CR-V, produced in 2017-2018 and Civic produced in 2016-2018 using a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine.
Many customers have complained about the phenomenon of gasoline infiltrating the engine oil causing the car to stop working in cold weather. Consumer Reports said the CR-V and Civic also had engine malfunctions during the summer and the hot and humid days of the summer.
Accordingly, the engine oil of CR-V and Civic can be diluted due to software tweaking and potential hardware failures. Therefore, the car does not achieve maximum performance, the cylinder operates improperly and causes engine noise.
Many customers still trust and support Honda in handling and waiting for the results from Japanese companies
